We recommend that clients submit multiple water samples collected during dry and wet events in order to achieve greater sensitivity and reliability with the results, particularly with regard to negative results. Each test serves as a counter check with the other tests by targeting a different indicator organism.

The Goose Bacteroidetes ID™service uses PCR DNA technology to determine the presence of Canada goose fecal contamination. The service targets gene biomarkers specific to fecal Bacteroidetes found in the feces of Canada geese.
The Goose Bacteroidetes "Quantification" ID™service uses "real-time" quantification PCR DNA analytical technology to determine the presence and quantification of Canada goose fecal contamination.The service targets and quantifies gene biomarkers specific to fecal Bacteroidetes found in Canada geese. In order to get an accurate interpretation of the quantification results, clients are encouraged to submit multiple water samples from the water system of concern. Samples should be collected at different sites and during wet and dry events (before and after rainfall).
